A simple way to end the deficit

Friday, April 20th, 2012
I received this in a recent email. It’s worth repeating!
Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the
best quotes about the debt ceiling:
“I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just
pass a  law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of  GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
for re-election/The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)
took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified!  Why? Simple!

The people demanded it. That was in 1971 – before computers, e-mail,
cell phones, etc.Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year
or less to become the law of the land – all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to
a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask
each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will
have the message.  This is one idea that really should be passed

_*Congressional Reform Act of 2011*_

1. No  Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they’re out of office.

2.  Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan,  just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.

Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive
the message.  Don’t you think it’s time?

If you agree with the above, please pass it on. If not, just ignore it.

Business Heard by Congress – new 1099 Requirements Overturned

Monday, September 5th, 2011

Hi everyone.

Here’s an excerpt from a free newsletter worth subscribing to!

Rejoice – Congress Overturns Enhanced 1099 Reporting Requirements

Anderson Business Advisors, PLLC

In response to overwhelming objections from business leaders, business organizations and accounting professionals nationwide complaining about the tax compliance burden these new requirement impose on taxpayers, particularly small businesses, Congress has repealed these requirements.

  • For Rental Owners – The new requirement for rental owners to report annual payments of $600 or more to service providers, such as a pool service person, handyman, gardener, management company and other unincorporated service providers effective for the 2011 and future tax years.

  • For Business Owners – The new requirement to include incorporated entities in the business 1099 reporting requirements and expanding the scope to include purchases in addition to payment for services.  This provision was to become effective for the 2012 and subsequent tax years.

Business feeling stuck? There is a solution…

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

Is your business feeling stuck? Here’s a quick, easy exercise from Paul Lemberg’s book: Be Unreasonable – the Unconventional Way to Extraordinary Business Results. In Paul’s words (roughly):

Take out a sheet of paper and write the numbers 1 through 10.

Make a list of 10 to-do items, any one of which would help your business substantially (simple or complex). Just write whatever comes to mind.

Review your list… One item will stand out… Call on your intuition. Find the most important one and circle it.

Begin working on the circled item. Yes, right now.

This exercise is powerful. Do it today!

Paul’s book is well worth the investment. Click here to order your copy of Be Unreasonable now!

Quick cost-friendly way to take credit cards

Sunday, June 19th, 2011

Someone just told me about a cheaper way to accept credit cards: SquareUp.com. It was created by the founder of Twitter. Only 2.75% per swipe for all credit cards; No monthly fees or contracts; next-Day Payout.

…so I asked my internet marketing friends, “Has anyone used this yet?“

Bonnie said:

Yes, I have it, and it’s great! I kept thinking there would be some strings attached or some kind of hidden fees, but it’s very straightforward. No fee except the 2.75%, and it’s paid out as advertised. It has really simplified my business too.
We had a merchant account for years, and at the beginning it had a $10/month fee, but now it was up to $50/month. Plus we had to carry the little swiper machine around and make sure we could plug it in somewhere. We cancelled that a couple months ago after we got the Square.
I think every business person should have a Square account.

Gerald said:

We just got it and it’s awesome. Have one reader and two accounts; one personal and one Corp. I have been speaking to a friend about buying my foosball table but he never had the money; ask me next month he kept saying. No problem, let me swipe your card and you have 25 days to sort it out. Cost me 6.88 but far better than a lost sale or another month having the same conversation.

If you take credit cards – or want to! Take a look at SquareUp.com.

Have to do everything

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Here is an excerpt from a colleague of mine, Ken McArthur.  Good reminder for us “have to do everything” entrepreneurs:

Here are some very common things that don’t work.

  • Trying to please everyone
  • Trying to help everyone
  • Trying to fix everyone
  • Trying to do everything
  • Trying to know everything
  • Trying to be everything

To read more, go to Ken’s blog: How to Do More, Working With Less.  (He’s the founder of JV Alert, where some top internet marketers go to share ideas and Joint Venture on assorted projects.)
